Source: Marlins execs out of play
The Marlins are expected to deny the Mets permission to interview president of baseball operations Larry Beinfest, general manager Michael Hill and assistant general manager Dan Jennings for their own GM vacancy, according to a source.
Jennings in particular had been at the center of rumors in recent days, but a source told MLB.com that the Marlins will not allow the Mets to interview him. Jennings, Hill and Beinfest are all under contract through 2015.
The Mets are currently in the process of formally asking permission to interview GM candidates. Once they are granted permission to meet with a candidate, both sides can negotiate a seven-day window for an interview and send the form to the commissioner’s office, after which point the interview can take place.
