Rarely has an exhibition carried so much weight as Tuesday’s game between the Mets and Cardinals, otherwise known as Johan Santana’s return to Major League action following an 18-month hiatus. Santana threw 29 pitches over two scoreless innings and looked sharp, prompting the Mets to consider it a very good day.
