Ike Davis not among Mets players on the block

Unprompted this week, Mets general manager Sandy Alderson mentioned Jon Niese and Dillon Gee as trade candidates in addition to R.A. Dickey.

But not everyone is up for grabs. The New York Post reported that Ike Davis is unavailable and Daniel Murphy is “unlikely” to be traded, as the Mets do not know how they would replace the offense of either player. If the Mets strike a significant deal, it will be drawing from their strength — starting pitching — to plug up holes in their lineup.

If you want to ever win you have to get some players in here, Players that will be around for quite a while. Players that can hit lefty’s and righty’s. Play defense and run the bases. We don’t have any one like that in the upper minors.

It’s players that win games. All around players like Molina, McCutchen, Stanton, Trout, Rollins, Utley, Ruiz, Cabrerra, Pedroia, Kemp, Cargo, McCann, Votto, Miguel Montero, and Headley. We could have drafted or signed anyone or a few of these guys

We need players that come up here and play like Posey, Heyward, Simmons, Kimbrel, Trout, Goldschmidt, Kipnis, Lawrie, Austin Jackson, Reddick, Middlebrooks, not Niuwennhaus, Duda and Thole and guess what? We don’t have them in our system and other teams do.

Sign Dickey, add an outfielder who can hit, rejiggle the bullpen and try for a solid overachieving team
