Frank Viola back as Class A pitching coach
The Savannah Sand Gnats officially announced today that Frank Viola will return as their pitching coach. Viola remains one of a host of former Mets on the organizational payroll, including Triple-A manager Wally Backman and Major League third-base coach Tim Teufel.
“I’m excited to be back in Savannah,” Viola said in a statement. “There were a lot of positives last year and there will be a lot more positives this year with the new incoming kids. It will be great being around John [Katz], Luis, Joel, Tom [Truedson] and Griff [Jason Griffin] for another year and being able to help out everyone involved.”
