Are you saying Marlon Byrd and Omar Quintanila have no shot at making this team? Clearly, it will be a shootout between Brown and Byrd, with Byrd likely the better defensive player who can play all three OF spots. The infield backup could come down to two right-handed hitters vying for one spot—Turner and Hicks—and two left-handed hitters vying for the other—Valdespin and Quintanila. And if you look at the April schedule, it sure seems that a spot starter may be needed 2-3 times, which opens the door for Hefner, in particular. The bullpen is most definitely the wildcard.

Sure hope Sandy is working on a trade for a starting OF. Just can’t see going into the season with this group. It’s possible that one (DUDA) comes around, but asking that three come through is asking to much.
