Dispatches from Port St. Lucie, 2/15

Saturday was the official deadline for Mets pitchers and catchers to report to camp, though they needed only to stop by the complex before day’s end.

What we learned: Bartolo Colon did not receive any two-year offers aside from the $20-million deal the Mets ultimately gave him.

What we wrote: “Joining Mets a simple decision for Colon”; “Farnsworth knows pressures of playing in New York”

What we saw: A quiet scene at Mets camp, where most players took advantage of their final off day:

traditionfield2-15

What’s next: Pitchers and catchers must undergo their physicals Sunday morning. Expect another quiet day, before the team’s first official workout on Monday.
