Mets 12, Yankees 7: Three Up, Three Down

Once again beating the Yankees at their own game.

Three Up
Curtis Granderson:
Think he likes hitting in this place? That’s two home runs for Granderson in as many games back at Yankee Stadium. He even added an opposite-field single to beat the shift in the ninth.

Daniel Murphy: He’s finally finding his missing power stroke now, with a key three-run homer Tuesday to give the Mets a nice cushion in the fifth. After going homerless in his first 28 games this season, Murphy has three in his last eight.

Daisuke Matsuzaka: Matsuzaka’s performance was absolutely crucial for the Mets, cleaning up Zack Wheeler’s mess in the fifth and carrying his team all the way to the ninth. He allowed just one hit.

Three Down:
Zack Wheeler: One hundred and eighteen pitches in 4 1/3 innings are not acceptable. Neither are six walks. Wheeler knows that — he spoke yesterday about the importance of efficiency — and is lucky it did not come back to hurt the Mets.

Travis d’Arnaud: Aside from serving as Wheeler’s batterymate, d’Arnaud went 0-for-5 at the plate with two strikeouts.

Chris Young: Young also finished 0-for-5, after coming up with what turned out to be the game-winning homer one day earlier. The Mets are still bullish on where Young is at.
