Duda and other Mets “Muscle”-ing up

In case you missed it, I wrote a brief piece today looking back on the offseason work that Lucas Duda, Ruben Tejada and other Mets players did at personal trainer Mike Barwis’ Michigan facility.

Barwis is now starring in his own reality television show, “American Muscle,” which airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. on Discovery. Here’s a clip from the show featuring Mets prospect Dominic Smith:

POLL: Who would win a Mets Home Run Derby?

Only three current Mets have ever participated in Home Run Derbies: David Wright (twice), Chris Young (while with the Diamondbacks) and Bobby Abreu (while with the Phillies). Only Abreu performed well on that stage.

But the Mets do boast their share of players with legitimate pop, as evidenced by the fact that they — do not adjust your monitors — lead the National League in homers since June 17. So who would win a Mets Home Run Derby?

Three Up, Three Down: Fish Fry

The Mets, improbably, enter the All-Star break as the National League’s hottest team. (The picture below is from the Futures Game in Minneapolis, where Noah Syndergaard and Kevin Plawecki are playing.)
